INDIANAPOLIS -- A 5-year-old girl was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when a makeshift, truck-pulled "sled" she was riding hit a tree in north-central Indiana's Carroll County, authorities said.

The girl was on what investigators believe to be a car hood that was attached by a rope to a pickup truck. The truck, driven by the fiance of the girl's mother, was moving in circles on a property near County Road 1200 North, pulling the car hood behind it, according to Carroll County sheriff's Deputy Mark Back.

The girl, who lives in Carroll County, suffered a head injury when the makeshift sled hit a tree. She was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital and was listed in critical condition Monday, Back said.

The names of the girl and the driver were not released.

Back said he doesn't believe the driver will face charges, but the determination will be made by the county prosecutor's office.

 The driver better be charged for being a dumbass!!

 ANOTHER ONE?!?

NORTH JUDSON, Ind. -- Prosecutors will decide whether to file any criminal charges in the deaths of two young children who were struck by a van while riding a sled pulled by an all-terrain vehicle, police said Tuesday.

Jade Craft, 6, and her brother, Camdin Craft, 2, both of Walkerton, died at the scene of head injuries, the Starke County Sheriff's Department said.

The children were riding on a sled with their 19-year-old baby sitter, Charity Minix, also of North Judson, around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, when the accident happened, police said.

The ATV was traveling on a county road about 40 miles southwest of South Bend when the sled veered into the oncoming lane and was struck by a van, police said. Minix's mother, Bobbie Rowe, 42, of North Judson, was pulling the sled behind her as she drove the ATV.

Minix suffered a broken arm and was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment, police said.

Rowe and the van's driver were not injured, Starke County Coroner Mark C. Smith said.

The Sheriff's Department said Tuesday the collision remained under investigation and that the report would be given to the prosecutor's office for a decision on charges.

And another!! Is Indiana full of dumbasses?

DEMOTTE, Ind. -- A 48-year-old woman has become the third person in two days to die while being pulled behind a vehicle on a sled in northwest Indiana.

The Porter County Coroner's office said Julie Osburn of DeMotte was riding a sled Tuesday as it was being pulled by a pickup truck driven by her fiancee, Mark Donovan.

The sled struck a tree. Osburn was taken to Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, where she was pronounced dead from blunt-force trauma and internal bleeding.

Demotte Police Chief Tom Jarrette said no charges will be brought against Donovan.
