Amherst police officers used footprints in the snow to track down a burglary suspect accused of stealing several power tools from a Sweet Home Road garage Wednesday night.
A resident on Sweet Home near Pheasant Run Road heard a noise and noticed a door open in his attached garage at about 7:50 p.m. He discovered that a circular saw, sander and joiner had been stolen from his garage. Amherst Officers Charles Persons and Michael Daley tracked a man's footprints through some back yards to a nearby tavern, where they charged Jason R. Mantione, 24, of Wheatfield, with burglary and petit larceny. The power tools were recovered.
