A 17-year-old student has been charged with battery for vomiting on his teacher.
The Olathe Northwest High School student was charged June 13 in juvenile court with misdemeanor battery for allegedly intentionally throwing up on his Spanish teacher, David Young. The father of the student, whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile, said his son did not mean to blow chunks on the teacher but he was overcome by the stress of final exams.
However, Young called the vomiting "outrageous," and authorities said some students remembered hearing the teen say he planned to "upchuck on the teacher."
"I think a message is being sent by both the school district and the district attorney that this behavior will not be tolerated," Young said.
Johnson County District Attorney Richard Guinn said the boy would likely face probation if convicted, and that his office wants him to apologize to Young. The boy's father has said his son has been expelled and that officials recommended enrollment in an alternative school in the fall.
