POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- A construction worker is dead after falling about 25 feet from a beam at a construction site in Pompano Beach.
A spokeswoman for the Broward Sheriff's Office said 36-year-old Eder Morales of Miami was welding together two beams Sunday morning when he temporarily removed his safety harness.
She said a forklift working nearby bumped the beam Morales was standing on, causing him to fall.
Morales died at the hospital.
He was working on a warehouse being built by Butters Construction and Development.
A co-owner of the construction company said Morales worked for a subcontractor.
The Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating Morales' death.
