A bandit fled a downtown bank empty-handed Monday afternoon, Buffalo police said.
Central District police said a man who had been at Citizens Bank, 414 Main St., for much of the day approached a teller at about 3 p.m.
The man gave a teller a handwritten note that said, "I have a gun and I only want $100's," according to a police report.
But as the teller began to collect two $100 bills, the robber grabbed the note back from her and yelled, "I can't do this to you. I wanted to do it to one of the other girls," and then ran out of the bank, police said.
The man, who never showed a weapon, fled suddenly before receiving any cash. A surveillance camera caught him on tape.
