LAKELAND - An 89-year-old woman drove into a Winn-Dixie supermarket Tuesday morning, severing a man's leg, the Lakeland Police said.
Blanche Garvin stepped on the accelerator instead of her brake pedal and hit an unoccupied car, Lakeland Police Department spokesman Jack Gillen said.
Garvin then hit pedestrian 54-year-old David Clark of the Winn-Dixie supermarket, severing his leg. Garvin then crashed into the store, Gillen said.
Garvin and five other people were taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center to be checked, but all were released. Clark was admitted to the medical center, Gillen said.
Garvin will not face criminal charges because the accident occurred on private property, Gillen said.
l:| Thats insane!! There is no reason why someone that old should be driving!!
