(Rochester, N.Y.) – Police have charged a pediatric neurologist from Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital with sexually abusing a child.
Dr. Carlos Torres, 70, was arrested Monday. The alleged victim was not a patient of the doctor and the alleged abuse occured off hospital grounds seven years ago.
Torres is charged with course of sexual conduct against a child and use of a child in a sexual performance.
Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Doug Randall said, "He had sexual contact with a child less than 13- years-old during a period of time of approximately nine months. He's also charged in the course of that activity videotaping the child."
Torres is not allowed to see patients, pending the outcome of the case. He has worked at the hospital since 1978. A hospital statement said there have not been any complaints against him.
