It washed up on shore dead. They didn't know what to do with it, so they used 1/2 ton of KABOOM stuff.

The best part is the whale chunk that landed on a spectator's car. Must have been fun filing a claim for thar one...

One account of the story mentioned that it had been rotting, and either smelled too bad or was too putrefied for practical use. Imagine stank rotting sea creature flesh raining down into a crowd. Totally gross.

WOW that was the most retarded attempt at trying to blow up a whale that I've ever seen. they should've let me go in and take care of it. When I was going through basic training, I blew a hole in the ground big enough to fit 2 A1 bradley's in. :smt040 That was a lot of fun! Then, while we were down looking at the hole in the earth and contemplating how we were gonna fill it back up we found a 55 gallon drum that had been burried there. probably way back when they burried chemicals in the ground before the military was there even. Anyhow we took the rest of the spool of det-cord and put it in the drum. When that blew, it sent the drum flying over our bunker that was 300meters away. now thats firepower!!! :smt040
